Complete Guide to PACS Worklist Management

How BharatPACS organizes cases into worklist stages, tags and customizable columns — and why that structure matters for daily radiology operations.

A PACS worklist is only useful if it tells your team, at a glance, exactly where every case stands. In BharatPACS, the worklist is organized into dedicated stages — All, Created, History, Unassigned, Assigned, Pending, Draft, Verify, Final, Reverted, Urgent and Reprint — so a radiologist, verifier or admin can filter straight to the cases that need their attention, instead of scanning a single undifferentiated list.

Stages that mirror the real workflow

Each stage corresponds to a real point in a case's life: a study lands as Created, moves to Unassigned until a radiologist picks it up, becomes Assigned once it does, and progresses through Pending, Verify and Final as reporting and verification happen. Reverted cases stay visible as their own stage, so corrections don't get lost in the general queue.

Tags for priority

Cases can also carry tags — Emergency, Priority, STAT and MLC — which can influence how they're surfaced on the dashboard. A STAT trauma case and a routine follow-up shouldn't compete for the same attention, and tagging is how that distinction gets made visible to whoever is working the worklist.

Columns that match the role

Not every user needs to see every column. Admins can control which worklist columns are visible to a given Center or Doctor, so a receptionist's view and a radiologist's view can show different information without maintaining two separate systems.

Taken together, stages, tags and configurable columns turn a worklist from a static list into an operational tool — one that reflects how a radiology team actually triages and moves work, not just what's technically in the database.
