Mobile DICOM Upload in PACS
How studies get from a phone into the PACS worklist, and where mobile upload fits into a radiology team's day-to-day.
Not every imaging workflow starts at a workstation. A technician on a mobile ultrasound visit, a small clinic without a full PACS terminal, or someone needing to get a study moving quickly from wherever they are — these situations don't always have a desktop nearby.
Uploading from a phone
BharatPACS supports creating studies by uploading DICOM or JPEG images directly from a phone or mobile device, where supported. That covers both native DICOM files and simpler JPEG images, depending on what the capturing device or workflow produces.
Straight into the same worklist
Once uploaded, the created study appears in the Worklist exactly like any other case — there's no separate "mobile cases" queue to check. It can be assigned, reported and verified through the same process as a study uploaded through TARANG, BharatPACS Sender, or any other route.
Where this actually helps
Mobile upload is most useful when it removes a genuine bottleneck: a small or remote center that doesn't run a full desktop PACS setup, a case that needs to move quickly and can't wait for someone to reach a workstation, or simply flexibility for staff who are mobile for part of their day.
It's not a replacement for TARANG or BharatPACS Sender's structured, high-volume upload workflows — it's a different entry point into the same system, for the situations where a phone is the tool actually at hand.
